Dear my friend Griet

       About what you had told me about Pieter I think you have to think it twice. Vermeer is just an ilusion a platonic love and you know that he is a very serious man and a serious husband. He will never separate from his wife that's why you shoul be with Pieter.  pieter will make you happy because he really love you, and he also have a good economy and you could eat meat and your family too.
       You have been long time to be with Pieter and with that excuse of that you are to young to get married, but you know that is not true. You should try with Pieter because you have a good oportunity to be with him. you are just attracted with Vermeer because he have money and live in good facilities. Even though you do not admit that you are in love with Vermeer I know you feel something for him. Dear friend I know very good and because you are my friend I told you that you must be far for Vermeer even not to go to work anymore with him, you should try to work to other place. . You have been worked there for long time and you know that Vermeer is just a man that is a great person an excellent artist but may not be your really love because he is married and he is not for you. Griet, Pieter is nice I think you can be in love with him if you put more from your heart.        Many people without power are good an honest, but others when they have power become completely different, change their personalities and morals. Having power can be good or bad, it depends how you use it. For instance a governor has some power, but a governor can steal from the city.
       When I was living in Puerto Rico 7 years ago, I heard about a governor who stole millions and millions of dollars from the city. He was caught in his stealing. Some political people noticed that the governor was stealing because the money was disappearing.
       When I heard this situation I was in my home looking at tv and all the channels were talking about the governor. Many people were angry with him. The police came to his huge and immense house and arrested him in front of all his family. Puerto Rico there are not presidents because P.R is part of the U.S. Puerto Rico has only governors and mayors. This governor was in the goverment for 7 years because he was relected two times. Many people in the beginning of his government thought that he was a good person and that he would change Puerto Rico in a good way, but in fact, he was corrupt and dishonest. The final result is that the governor is in jail paying for his bad conduct.
       When we have power we should use it for a good reason and the most important lesson is to be always honest. Being a good person withgood morals and ethics will always help us for not do something incorrectly.

Sometimes in our countries we have traditions that we do not know why we celebrate. We do not know where they come from. Some people follow some traditions because everyone celebrate them, but, they do not know why it is a celebration or the reason for it. Others decide not to be part of some traditions because they think there is no reason for celebration.

I went to Mexico last year for vacation from October 29 until November 15. I went with all my family: my mom, my sister, and my brother. At that time in Mexico they celebrate Halloween on October 31st and they also celebrate the Day of the Dead on November 1st. In Mexico I have all my mom's family so I stayed in my aunt's house.

I was very excited, waiting for Halloween and the Day of the Dead. I had my costumes in my suitcase. Two days before November 1st I asked my aunt what she was going to do on November 1st. She said she will not do anything for that day. I got surprised by her answer. November 1st is a joyful celebration when mexicans remeber the dead and worship. I asked her "but why?" My aunt said that she doesn't celebrate the death's day because she is not happy with death. Moreover she asked me why I celebrate the death's day. I didn't know what to said, I just told her that everyone celebrates it because it is part of Mexicans traditions. She gave me an explanation. I was petrified by what she told me.

She lost her first baby when she was young. Her baby died when he was 10 days old. She suffered a lot for her little boy. That's why she doesn't celebrate the day of the dead because death took her son. Then she asked me"why celebrate the day of the dead if someone special to us dies and we cry? I hate the death because of it I dont have my baby." That made me think a lot. Now I think in the same way she does, because I lost my father; he died long time ago.

I think everyone has the right of choose to follow or not a tradition or custom. Everyone has the free choice to believe or not in a custom. My aunt is not doing anything wrong if she doesn't continues with the tradition she just thinks it is not correct to her to celebrate the Day of the dead.

Girl With A Pearl Earring

Summary
Griet lived with her father, sister and with her brother. She had to work as a maid because his father suffered an accident in his workplace. The Vermeer's family hired her as a maid to do the house works and to take care of Catharina's six children. Catharina was jealous of Griet because Griet was available to enter to the Vermeers painting studio and Catharina not. Griet woul come to her home on Sundays. Cornelia is sometimes nice but in other moments she is bad. Griet knew Pieter who she get her meat. Her sister was ill and Griet was very sad.

A Part I Like
The part that I liked much is when Griet came to her house. Her siter was asking her how is the Vermeer's family . After six days out of her house she was very happy to see her family again.Her parent were preocuped about she and how she felt in the Vermee's house.

Questions:
1- Why Griet is the only one who are allowed to enter to the Vermeer's studio?
2-Did she feel something for Pieter?
My interpretation
It is a new beginning for Griet. She had to face the real world and the real problems.She have to mature and work to help her family. Her life changed when she have to start working as a maid in Vermeer's family.

One of These Days

Summer
''One Of These Days'' by Aurelio Escovar is about a poor dentist who don't have a degree. One day he was polishing a false teeth and his eleven year old boy told him that the mayor was waiting for him to take out his tooth.The dentist dont't wasnted to help him but the mayor threatened to the dentist. So the dentist help him. Aurelio Escovar took the teeth without anesthesia because the mayor had an abscess but the reality is that the dentist wanted a revenge. He said "Now you"ll pay for our twenty dead men." When the dentist finished the mayor said to send him the bill.

Part I like
The part that I liked is where the mayor said to the dentist if he don't come to take his teeth he will shoot him. I liked this part because is the part that it takes more in suspense the story and more interesting. I felt to be inside the story and be part as a witness.

Part I found confusing
I didn't found a confusing part. I found the story very clearly and interesting.

Questions:
1-Why the dentist don't have a degree?
2-Why the mayor have to pay for the twnty dead men?

My interpretation
Gabriel Garcia Marquez tried to said that some honest an poor people are good than a great mayor that is corrupt and bad people.Aurelio Escovar was without a degree and poor but honest and with good feelings in the other hand the mayor have an education and rich but the was corrupt and because of huim twenty people die.

Bad Companies composition# 4

     Some people do the right thing but, others may think that some waysthat we try to resolve some problems is not the correct choice. Sometimes we can't see the true value of a person but, then we see it. When we need help some people try to help us in a way that we may think is not correct.

     When I was in high school I had a boyfriend; his name was Fernando. I met him in the school, he was a very good person. When I knew him, he was intelligent and he liked to study a lot. He encourage me to study and to do homework so I could pass my classes.

     One day my sister made a hookie in my home. A hookie is a party in school hours. So students who go to hookies have to cut classes. That day I went to school but I felt early because I didn't feel good. I went back home and I noticed that in my home were people. When I enter I smelled the smoke of the marihuana, people  were dancing and drinking; the party was in a good mood. I met new people and I made friends with them. We exchange phone numbers and they called me the next day. I hang out with them, one day they invited me to smoke marihuana and I accepted. I was curious so I did it. The next day I told my boyfriend what happened the day before and he was extrmely annoyed. He asked me if I would do that again and I said no. He also told me that If I smoke again  he will call my mom and said her to what happened. However, I continued to go out with mys sister's friends smoking drugs. As a result my grades started to go out down. My boyfriend noticed about my grades and he asked me again if I was consuming drugs. In one moment I thought to lie to him but, I didn't. He was very upset with me. H etold me that he was going to call to my mom. I begged him not to call my mom but, he didn't listen to me.

     After two days, my mom received a call.Iwas in suspense because I was thinking about what my boyfriend had said to me. When my mother hung up the phone she looked at me. She told me, "how is posible?" I told her,"about what?" My mom said that my boyfiend told her everything. My mom was angry with my sister because she did a hookieand permitted people to smoke in our home and she was angry with me because I was smoking. I asked my mother to forgive me and I promise to her to never do that again. My mother then said that my boyfriend was a good person and he really loved me. But no matter what my mother said, inside me I was angry with him. I didn't talk to him for two weeks.

     In those two weeks I didn't talk to those friends. My friend of the school told me that he want the best for me. In that conversation I realized that my boyfriend was a good person. I realized that he was honest and that he loved me and that he just wanted the best for me.

     Some people can act in some ways that for them they think is corrct but for others may be incorrect. We think that they don't care about us but it is completely opposite, they care and want the best for us. 

The Lottery

The story "The Lottery" is about a ritual that takes place in a small town village.  This town had like 300 people who live there. All years they have to play a ritual.This is the time of summer on June 27th. They have to slip papers with the same amount of people in a black box. Everyone have to taker one paper and even the children.The person who had the black spot is the winner. All people then have to collect stones. The person who is the winner have to die.

The part that I like is when everyone is scare and want to know who is the winner. For me that part is very suspense. It makes me feel that I m in the story too. In one moment I feel that I was inside of the story.

2. Why Mrs. Hutchinson was very scold?

My interpretation of this story is that thisd story is for time of halloween or when you want to read some scare stories.Also my interpretation is that people have afraid to change cultures or traditions that are bad.

My partner at work composition#3

       On September 15, 2009 I went into a women's clothing store. I told the mananger that I was looking for a job and asked if he was hiring people. He told me "yes, I"m hiringand I want a girl to work in this store." So, he told me to bring copies of passport and social security card. He gave me some papers to fill out andto bring them the next day.

       I went the next day; I brought the copies of the passport and the social security card with the papers that he gave me. I started to work the next day. I felt good at tyhe beginning because I would have my own money. The women's clothing storeis located in Steinway, Astoria NY. This job was perfect for me because it was near from my high school.

       Two weeks later, while I was working a co-worker girl looked at me but in a angry way. She was from Mexico with blonde hair and not tall. She was that kind of person that evrything must be in the way she want. That moment when she looked at me as if she was angry, I didn't say anything to her.

       Next day, when I was in the stairs she was passing and she pushed me down  so I could fell but I held the railing so I didn't fell.  I asked her what was wromg with her and she told me that it was an accident. She and I went to the mananger and the only think that he said was "goodbye, and never come back"

       I felt that it was unjust and unfair because she was the only fool person and because of her I lost my job.

" A Chip Of Glass Ruby"

            "A Chip of Glass Ruby" is about a family who is under pressure . The mother want to do something that she want . She do copies of papers that gives hope to black people. But her husband Mr.Banjee is against this. Her older daughter is pregnant from Mohammad Ms banjee had four more child. One day the police came to t6heir homes and took the machine of the copies and took her to jail. She suffer days of hunger later on Mr Banjee went to saw her in the jail.
            I like this story because is a great example of do what our heart and mind says . Ms Banjee never stop to do copies even when the husband was angry with her.She continue to do more and more because she thaught that with do her voluntair labor will help to give hope for black peolpe.

            Something taht is a litlle confious is how the police knew that Ms Banjee was doing copies . I think that were peolpe whgo tried to eliminate Ms Banjee. Maybe that person hate black people.
1- How the police knew that Ms Bnjee was doincg copies?
 I this this story means that we have to fight for our rights or for the things that we think that is good

12 angry men

        Juror #4 uses glases and looks to be young enogh. He dont speak to much and at the beginning of the play on the first vote he voted that the boy of 19 years old was guilty. But he change his vote when he knew that the witness testimony is descredited because apparently the poor vision of the witness.

sunday in the paek

         Sunday in the park by Bael Kaufman is a story that brings into focus a wife's  resentment against the seeming impotence of her husband against a bully. The husband Morton backs off from the other man whose child has been bullying their own little boy . When the wife arrived  at home appears to submit to the logic of not violence adopted by her husband but when their child start having tantrums the exasperated Morton threatness it  with punishment the wife snaps and taunts her husband as the bully did.

''The Miracle Worker''

One of the best books that I read in my whole life is ‘’The Miracle Worker. ’’ This is a book that shows us how perseverance can change a person and how to be stronger in life. Honestly I don’t remember who wrote but I know that the book is based on a true story.

            The book is about Helen Keller, how she suffer in her life. She was blind, deaf and mute, but even with disabilities she earn a bachelor of arts degree. When Helen Keller was a child she had a teacher. The teacher’s name was Anne Sullivan. She taught Helen the way that a person has to be. Anne Sullivan taught her the deafblind language, even when the family of Helen Keller opposed the way that Anne Sullivan was trying to teach and educate Helen. No matter what the family of  Helen thought , Sullivan was determinated to educate Helen. Years later Helen earn a degree and was available to communicate to other people by the deafblind language.

            The first time that I read this book was in Englisn class in high school two years ago. I think Anne Sullivan did a good job with Helen because it very difficult to teach a person that is deaf, blind and mute, but Anne Sullivan did it. Anne was patient, perserving and a strong woman. ‘’The Miracle Worker’’ is a good book because it demostrates that even with problems, difficults or with disabilities we can fight to have a good life. Also , tbe book shows us that no matter how difficult life can be we should never give up . Anne Sullivan was astubborn person, years later she was happy because that was a good decision, Helen could almost have a normal life .

            When I think about it now , I feel  that I can  persevere and solve  my problems. While i was reading the book i felt sad but  at  the end  of the book my feelings were completely different , i felt happy.

I recommended this book to all kinds of people  no matter if they are young or older, this book could change personality or the way to see the life.

''Reunion''

           ''Reunion'' by John Cheever is a story about a boy that his parents are divorced and he live with his mother. The boy named Charlie had not see his father 3 years since his parents are separated. Charlie wrote a letter to his father to meet in the lunch time.They met together and his father invited to eat something. Charlie and the father sat down in table but the father toll in a very bad way to the waiter that later on  they left the restaurant. They went to another restaurant but they also left the restaurant because the father wanted that the boy to drink alcohol but in the restaurant is not allowed to the children to consume alcohol. Charlie and his father went to another two more restaurant but they quick because his father just fight with the waiters. When they left for the fourth place Charlie toll to his father that was time to take the train The father wanted to buy a magazine so Charlie can read it while he was on the train, so the father went into a store and he start to scream at the clerk. Charlie saw that and hi decided to go home and that was the last time that Charlie saw his father.
